Unlike the single-sided original Chillow, Chillow Plus uses a new hydro-soothe membrane on both sides of the 2cm thick pad to provide cooling, soothing, sleep-inducing comfort.
For those people who habitually turn the pillow at night to find a cool spot, Chillow Plus is the ideal solution.
Chillow Plus is designed to rest on a conventional pillow or slip inside the pillow case. It works by taking heat away from the body to prevent overheating and to maintain the right temperature for deep, restful sleep. Anyone who finds they are too hot in bed at night, suffers from hot flushes, restless leg syndrome, fever or headaches will discover the cooling sensation of sleeping on Chillow Plus soothes and relaxes, helping them get to sleep (sometimes for the first time in many years).
How does the Chillow Plus work?
The body needs to lose heat in order to sleep and this is done mainly through the head and face. If the body can’t lose sufficient heat to cool itself, sleep can be disrupted.
Inside the medical grade, hypoallergenic covering is a highly absorbent patented inner core which is moistened with ordinary tap water and sealed. The Chillow Plus works very simply on the principle that water conducts heat away from the body 25 times faster than air. The water cools the pad to between 10 and 20°C below body temperature. When you lay your head on the pad, heat conducts away from the body into the Chillow Plus and then back out into the air, similar to the way a radiator works in a car.
After a few hours’ use, the upper side of the Chillow Plus will have absorbed some of the body’s heat….time to turn it over and discover a refreshingly cool side. Should it need to be turned again during the night, the underside will have once again returned to its original cool state.
Once activated, Chillow Plus will keep on working, so it’s always ready for use. It needs no pre-cooling – it simply returns to room temperature during the day. It is always ready to use, dry, soft and cool.
The new Chillow Plus has an optional extra to make it even more comfortable – rubber feet and Velcro fixings to ensure it stays in place on the pillow throughout the night.
